Mother’s Day Orders

Please place your orders for Mother’s Day, May 11, no later than Saturday, May 3, so we have time to pack and ship them to arrive before that special Sunday. Orders received after May 3 may not arrive in time!

Recent Awards
We’re thrilled to announce an 87-point AM/AOS to V. Christa Collins ‘Crownfox’. Judges at the Cincinnati Judging Center granted this award
last month.

Creature Feature
We do love our critters, and our menagerie almost increased by one squirrel last month. But the neighbor kids couldn’t resist him and adopted the little guy the same day he scampered into the showroom, walked right up to Mike and said “take me home, please!”. Click here for a photo tour!

Now Showing!
April’s usually very dry here but last month we received above-normal rain, and the garden is an amazing spectacle right now. We’re enjoying a gorgeous encore performance from the jade vine (which we thought was done for the season!), and most of the vandaceous orchids in the garden are in full glorious bloom or will be very soon. Our specimen Rhynchostylis retusa is covered with inflorescences (this is what it looked like last year, we expect an even better show in the next couple of weeks!), and some of the specimen Onc. sphacelatum are still blooming. (PS, want a Rhynchostylis retusa for your collection? check
out our website special this month!)

We have our giant Asctm. curvifolium ‘Crownfox’ and a specimen Maxillaria tenuifolia decorating the showroom, and our “volunteer” Grammatophyllum scriptum is full of buds. Mother Nature planted this one for us!

If you’ve visited the garden you know that we have a lot of tropical exotics as well as orchids. Many of the gingers, including this beautiful Costus (“spiral ginger”), are blooming, and so are some of the
heliconias. We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that one of our Vriesia imperialis has begun its bloom cycle. This is a giant bromeliad, native to Brazil. The rosette of leaves can reach more than 6 ft. (2M) in diameter, and once mature, the inflorescence may tower more than 15 ft. (nearly 5M) above the plant. It’s slow growing, so there’s plenty of time to see it and watch it mature!

Do you know the “miracle fruit” secret? Please join one of our garden tours this month to find out. We’ll be delighted to share it with you (if you already know, please don’t spoil it for those who haven’t experienced it!)

We have free garden tours on weekends (weather permitting) at 11am and 3pm, and we’d love for you to visit. If you need a map or directions to the nursery, those are here on the site (“contact us”). Click here for a photo tour!

Robert’s Road available!
We’re delighted to announce the publication of “Robert’s Road, Chronicle of an Orchid Tradition”! This is the story of three generations of orchid growers in South Florida, the life and times of the Fuchs Family, the history of R.F. Orchids and lots more.
